Still love Tuesdays June 28, 2005
Seriously. I’m not sure why this is, but maybe it is just the joy that Monday is over. Tuesday is a sign that the week is moving on. Now don’t misunderstand, I’m not one of those who has a case of “The Mondays” every single week, but there is something discouraging about having to go back to work after a solid two days of freedom. But Tuesday means everything will be okay. I do love my job, after all.
Not that anyone would be interested, but I caught up on my filing this morning. I thought I had better get it done early, before the heat kicks in. And I needed to have it done this week anyway, since we are moving the office to our new building on Friday. The more organizing I can do now, the smoother the transition. Anyway, it feels good. That’s all I’m sayin’.
I have a stewardship meeting at church tonight. Should be interesting.

Accountant jokes I relate to June 27, 2005
One who looks at your shoes while he’s talking to you instead of his own.
Tie him to a chair, stand in front of him and fold up a road map the wrong way.
Lord, help me be more relaxed about insignificant details, starting tomorrow at 10.53:16 am, Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
Lost
He learns to act his wage.
And remember: Accountants aren’t boring people. They just get excited over boring things.
What’s your theological worldview? June 24, 2005
My quiz results were quite shocking, don’t you think? Daughter of a Methodist pastor, niece to two Methodist pastors, granddaughter to a Methodist pastor, attending a Methodist church… “influenced heavily” is probably an understatement.

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan. You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God’s grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavily by John Wesley and the Methodists.

On hold with SBC June 23, 2005
Going on 15 minutes now… They are trying to find out what happened to our toll free number. I suspect that when I changed our original order, they didn’t carry the toll free number over. Argh. Well I hope they can still give us the same number because we’ve already started using it in the design of our marketing pieces. They don’t have on hold music or anything. How boring. I’m just glad I got my coffee before I made this call. Oh, I just remembered that I have a speaker phone. Sweet. This is so much better. Now I can do that bank reconciliation. Yes, I’m supposed to be working. Not blogging. Oooh… they’re back. Rick is helping me now. I had to take it off speaker phone. They tell me they reserved the number but didn’t activate it because we need our long distance to be with SBC. Dang it. What a pain in the neck. Literally, because I’m holding the phone up with my shoulder while typing. I’ve been on the phone with them for 30 minutes so far. Maybe longer… I didn’t actually look at the clock when I first called. You know this phone stuff is a bit overwhelming for me, kind of how tax returns might be for all you non-nerds. 35 minutes. Waiting for the third party verifier. Oh, now they play the music. Now Maria is asking me some serious questions. Scary stuff. Are you an authorized blah blah blah. Just say yes or no, Mindy, it’s not the end of the world. Whew! That’s done. Only took 40 or so minutes. Back to the more productive work.

Josh June 21, 2005
My brother Josh is staying with us for the week. I still remember when he was 3. He is 14 now, so it’s pretty cool to find out who he has become. So far I have learned that he is nothing short of amazing. That and he will eat just about anything I feed him
Financial tip June 17, 2005
Those who know me best know that I’m really interested in financial matters and like helping others with their finances (I would really love to be a budget counselor some day). So when I come across a good financial tip I just feel like I really need to share it with others.
Here’s a great tip for today (Courtesy of toothpaste for dinner)
Toads June 14, 2005
There was a family of toads living in my window well 2 years ago. They used to greet me every morning as I filled my water bucket to water my flowers. Last year they didn’t come back and that made me sad. But this morning I looked down at the window well and who did I see? A mommy toad, a daddy toad, and two little baby toads! They sit so unbelievably still when I come near them, hoping that I won’t see them as they try to blend in with the leaves. I just wish they weren’t so scared of me. It’s Mike they should be scared of. He doesn’t look where he’s walking and he wears a size 13!
